I decided to continue to write about my favourite book and its world. Because it is so interesting for me, that it deserve more than one post.
Alors,
There are three parts of this story:
first book : "Shadow of the Wind",
second is "The Angel's Game"
and the third is "Prisoner of Heaven"
There is going to be fourth book and I am long to read it. I acctually check it all the time whether it was published yet or not.
The thing about the titles:
I love the way Zafon came up with it. They are a paradox, two words eliminate each other, it is some kinda oxymoron... I love it :D first: Shadow of the wind - we are not able to see the wind and neither its shadow. And its funny because I don't see the connection between the title and the plot... or maybe i missed something... not sure.
next: The Angel's Game - angel is pure goodness, it is close to God, almost perfect, Guardian Angel - someone who cares about us, who watch us all the time and protect us from all the bad things. And someone who's playing with us in some game? something's not right... And here, I see obvious connection to the title: Andreas Corelli is an angel but the fallen one. He's playing with David's mind. He meets him at the great villa, where everything overwhelm David, and the next day it's empty ruin for many years.
next: Prisoner of Heaven - heaven is something where we feel joy, freedom and here we have a prisoner- someone who is not free, who is limitted. So how can anyone be a Prisoner of Heaven? I guess it is about prison for mind. In this book David is in prison (he is not mentioned in the first book of the serie and in this one he is only mentioned, this continue the first book's plot) but he is treated well, he has everything he wants.
The serie of Cemetery of the Books
The thing that connects this serie is Cemetery of the Books, Sempere family and their bookstore. The interesting place is of course Cemetery of the Books because it is a place which is known only by people who can be trusted and there are few people who know about it. The place is hidden under Barcelona. It is build with the books, and I mean it: the walls of books create the halls, the shelves are built with books. It acctually sounds awesome for me. All you can see there are books. Sounds wonderful. The rule of this place is that you cannot tell anyone, unless he deserves it and can be trusted. The next rule is that when you are there for the first time, you have to choose one book and be its guardian until your death. It is about not forgetting books that are forgotten... :P. To keep the book alive, it must be remembered and read all over again. that's why you guard your book which you have chosen.
